By 9/23, we will have a brand new fabulous building for the younger children. All the contractors and businesses have been so generous in donating time, labor and materials to build the building. NOW WE HAVE TO STOCK THE INSIDE. Our wish list is long - some things are easy for one person to buy and others are better for a group to purchase together. In most cases we have to order from speciality stores - SO, we are asking you to pick an item to buy and donate the funds for us to do so. Be sure to put the item description in the comment section of the online donation form or in the memo portion of your check. Benefit Concert for Miracle Makeover 2006

The Lamorinda Musical Artists are proud to present a Benefit Concert for Miracle Makeover 2006. "Kids Helping Kids" From Bach to the Beach Boys and everything in between. Thursday August 10th at the Lafayette United Methodist Church, 955 Moraga Road, Lafayette CA. 7:30pm. Free Admission. All donations will be given to the Miracle Makeover 2006 fund. You will be able to meet the Miracle Makeover 2006 team, buy fundraising mugs, bumper stickers or just come to ask for some information. We will be signing up volunteers and meeting fun people.

WHO ARE THE AMAZING FOUNDERS OF MIRACLE MAKEOVER?
**********Who are the people Building a Dream?**********

In January of this year, a young couple approached the Bay Area Crisis Nursery. Ondrej Uma and his wife, Marketa Umova. They were interested in giving back to the community, specifically helping children. They offered to do free improvements of some of the rooms at the home for children birth through five. Ondrej brought pictures of his incredible craftsmanship - we knew we were in good hands since his work was so amazing.

As we walked through the Nursery, Ondrej instantly recognized that the building was in need of more than a facelift. Leaking roof, cracked and sinking foundation, flooding and drainage problems. A lesser man would have turned away, but Ondrej took the problems as a challenge and opportunities.

He immediately contacted local businesses to see if any help was possible. Their response was great. So the Miracle Makeover 2006 became a reality.

Starting September 11, 2006 the Nursery will be demolished and rebuilt in just 12 days! Ondrej and Marketa realized the importance of the Nursery as the only crisis nursery in the Bay Area. They don't want children at risk any longer than necessary.

To build a 4700+ square foot building in just 12 days is a monumental undertaking. But Ondrej rose to the challenge. He has put together a coalition of over 40 businesses and individuals to complete the Miracle Makeover. In addition Ondrej and Marketa are getting volunteers to help feed the army of workers that will be arriving. They are getting donations and publicity for the donors and supporters. They have spent hours on this project, while still running their own business and working on their customer's homes. Do they ever sleep?

It is an incredible example of caring and generosity. Here at the Nursery we think those hearts of gold are what keep them working round the clock. We can never thank them enough, but we hope they know how much the Miracle Makeover means to us and how important they are to us.

BUT...WE STILL NEED FIRE SPRINKLERS 5/4/06

We DESPERATELY NEED fire sprinklers - a certified fire sprinkler installer to donate design and installation AND a donation of sprinklers.

IN ADDITION - we will need up to $20,000 for water hook-up including a bigger pipe. As an entity using taxpayer funds, the Water District cannot donate or rebate the fees without taxpayer approval. IS THERE SOMEONE OUT THERE WITH A BIG HEART (and big bank account?) or lots of someone's with big hearts who can each donate a little?

WE HAVE A FOUNDATION AND DRAWINGS! 5/4/06

The William P. Young Company has signed on to do our foundation. They will donate everything - time, labor, materials, rebar, concrete - the whole works! They plan to bring their whole crew and whip out the foundation in record time!

Construction drawings are being done by Tom Linn Drafting in Antioch. These should be completed in a week or two.

START DATE MOVED TO SEPTEMBER 2006 4/12/06

Building will now begin in early September after Labor Day. We have not yet had any architects/drafters offer to donate their time to do the construction drawings. WE ARE IN NEED OF ARCHITECTS/DRAFTERS TO DO THESE DETAILED DRAWINGS ASAP. PLEASE HELP!!!
